Boys will be Boys

In preparation for hunting season, Dad & Will have been working on their cabin. After a recent football game, we stopped to hang out with them for a bit. Tripp had a blast, as you can see.

What is it about boys and driving? I'm sure it has something to do with their control issues, maybe?! :-)

I saved my favorite for last...Tripp and his PopPop.

Weekend in Prattville

This past weekend, our friends Adam & Sarah were married in Prattville. Adam is a high school friend of Allen's and we always have so much fun when we're together! I just love Sarah and we are so happy for both of them.

Attempting to go get a good family photo.
The DAV's showing off their dance moves (or lack thereof!)!
Tripp & Grandma Judy (notice the "mustache" on Tripp's lip - he'd just made a visit to the chocolate fountain).
Crazy Uncle Justin!
The beautiful bride!
Allen, Tripp & the Groom
Tripp in the middle of the dance floor with all the ladies!
MaMa Stacie celebrated Aunt Angela's birthday with us on Sunday. She and Tripp performed for us after cake & ice cream.
I love this picture of the two of them - it's hard to tell who's having more fun!

Allen's 30th Birthday!

I know I talk a lot about this guy...

but this guy, this guy, is THE ONE.
And I hope he had a HAPPY HAPPY 30th BIRTHDAY!!

Anniversary Trip

Here's another post that's just been lingering out there for me to finish...
As I mentioned earlier, Allen & I celebrated 5 years of marriage in May. When we were discussing what we were going to do to celebrate, I had visions of fancy hotels, nice dinners, massages. Allen, not so much. He informed me he wanted to go to the middle of nowhere. He wanted no internet, no TV, no cell phone service. Really, Allen? But I have to admit that it did sound appealing to me (kind of). So, Allen found a cabin in the middle of nowhere north Alabama, we dropped Tripperoo off at the grandparents, & drove north. On the way, we ate here & visited this (totally felt like I was on a school field trip). We hiked in Little River Canyon, & Desoto National Park, & even got to have dinner with our friends, the Belews. We had a great time!

Allen loved taking this picture

5 Years of Wedded Bliss

How did we go from this...

to this?!?!?!
I think this is what 5 years of marriage will do to a couple! That's right, folks, Allen and I just celebrated 5 years of marriage. Some days it feels like it hasn't been that long ago when we walked down the aisle and then others, well, let's just say it seems longer than 5 years...

Our "story" however actually began almost 7 years ago when on one fateful night, Allen and I were "paired" together for a semi-blind date. Long story, but here we go-a big group of our single college friends decided to go on "dates" for Valentine's Day. There were 4 and we all drew names to see who would be matched up with who(m? - I always get those confused) for each date. My dates were as follows:

Ride to Montgomery - Matt Baker (and Lindsay was in the car with me. Her date was Jonathan Forsythe.)
Dinner in Montgomery - Randy Whitehead
Shakespeare Play - ALLEN VINSON
Ride back to Auburn - Scott Moore (& thank goodness for this. Scott & I were good friends by this point and I could tell him all about my Shakespeare date)

Something totally clicked that night & if you ask either one of us, we'll tell you we just knew. And 5 years of marriage, 1 baby, 1 mortgage, & 1 income later, we still know!

A few pictures from when we were dating...

This was actually at the Shakespeare Festival (haircut - awful)

Our first ADPi formal
Halloween - this totally makes me laugh every time I look at it!
This is the ski trip where I told Allen I could never marry him. He proposed 2 weeks later & I guess we all know what happened next....
I would love to post more pictures from this day & hope to soon, but for now "this" is telling me he wants breakfast...
