Hay Day!

A blog post!  Can you believe it?  I debated on backtracking over the last few months or just picking up on the events of today.  Due to lack of time, we're just going to fast forward from July to today!  It's Hay Day!  Tripp's little preschool is such a blessing.  We LOVE his teachers this year and he loves going.  Every morning, he asks "Do I get to go to preschool today?"  Poor boy - I think he gets bored with his mama.

Back to Hay Day - the children were supposed to wear western wear and Tripp was so excited about that until this morning, when he decided he wanted to dress up like a pirate instead.  There was a complete meltdown.  I will not lie - he is the most stubborn, head strong child I've ever known.  Unfortunately, I think he's received a double dose from his daddy and his mommy :-(  Anyway, the threat of missing the hay ride and pumpkin patch with his friends changed his mind.  I think he's one pretty cute Buckaroo!

The teachers asked if I would make a snack for the class.  ME?  Spend hours on Pinterest looking for Hay Day snack ideas...OK, sure!

Sheriff Badge Cookies
 Applesauce
 Finished Project

Also in the bags were trail mix, a spoon, and cute little sheriff/western napkins.  Although Pinterest came through for me, my printer did not!  It's not been working the last couple of days so my cute snack didn't turn out as cute as I'd hoped.  Oh well, 3 year-olds don't care.

In other (BIG) news - we're having Baby #2 in March.  We can find out baby's gender this Thursday but we're still debating.  It was so much fun having Tripp be a surprise!  However, I'm already envisioning a Gender Reveal Party (yes, compliments of Pinterest). I'd like to promise that I'll be blogging more about the adjustments our family will be going through in the next few months, but I honestly don't see things slowing down at all!  The upcoming Holidays and baby preparation seem overwhelming to this unorganized girl!

June - A Month of Firsts

I like to blog in bullet points...
  • First Trip to Walt Disney World
  • First Swimming Lessons
  • First Bowling Game
Allen had a conference in Orlando and we decided to plan a family trip to Disney World.  We really did have the best time!  We had a bit of a ticket debacle on Monday morning that left me totally disheartened, but after a little showdown between opponent A (frugal stay-at-home mom) and opponent B (Mickey Mouse), our trip was smooth sailing!  And now we have free tickets for our next visit! :-)

Part of the fun of the trip for  me was the planning!  This was a constant companion of mine, checked out from the library only 3 times!

The last time Allen and I went to WDW was about 5 years ago, and it certainly wasn't with a 3 year old.  With a toddler in tow, you don't always have the luxury of being spontaneous :-)

I mentioned before that I was planning a Mickey Mouse surprise basket for the road trip and it was a hit!  I had enough "junk" for the ride there & back!  Tripp really didn't know what WDW was, so there was no huge surprise telling him about the trip (maybe next time :-)).  We did watch Disney movies and read Disney books, and the Disney basket helped prepare him for the fun in store!

SUNDAY

Openeing his first gift.
Arriving at the hotel.

MONDAY - ANIMAL KINGDOM

I loved this shirt from Pixie Dust & Pirate Hooks.  I bought the safari hat for $1 at Dollar Tree and added the ears.  And of course, he had to wear his dino underwear since he was going on a safari!
Not so sure about an early morning safari...
Three Goofy's!
This was right after he blew Daisy a kiss :-)
Aunt Angela & Uncle Justin!  So fun having them join us for the day.

TUESDAY - Pool Time with Aunt Angela

Unfortunately, I have NO pictures from this day!  But we had so much fun in the pool at the resort.  Seriously, who wouldn't have fun in this pool?!?!
We did go to dinner on the Boardwalk after Allen finished his conference.
These two were being pirates on the "ship".
I can never get Tripp to take a serious picture with me!
He thought his Mickey Mouse plate was so cool!  (I did too, but was more impressed with his almost healthy dinner!)

WEDNESDAY - DOWNTOWN DISNEY

We loved the Lego Store!
Showing off the 3 Lego Men we made.  He asked me the other day if we could go back and make a witch and an Indian.  Not sure how he came up with that combo.
 Surprise Dinner at TREX
Check out this T Rex bone filled with the biggest slushy ever.  Talk about a sugar high!
Giving me their best dinosaur roars!
Playing with his "Tripposaurus" he made at Build-A-Dino.  The crowds at Downtown Disney were a little much for Daddyosaurus!  Can you tell?!

THURSDAY - MAGIC KINGDOM

Julie & I decided to tackle Magic Kingdom with a baby AND a toddler on Thursday!
Not sure who was more excited about the teacups - Shannon or Tripp?
Baby Luke is just the cutest!
Allen joined us that afternoon after the conference was over.
The boys rode on a car ride and Tripp thought he was as big as his dad.  Look at that walk of confidence!
Fun way to end the night - Astro Orbiter!  All 3 of us crammed into one little ride!  So fun flying high above Magic Kingdom.  Check out the castle in the background.

FRIDAY - HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS

We surprised Tripp with a character breakfast.  He loved seeing Handy Manny, Jake, June, & Oso.
 At Disney Junior Live!onStage.
On the new Toy Story ride!  We used Fast Passes to ride this twice.  So fun!

We had a great time and I'm so thankful we were able to take Tripp.  I'll end with a priceless video of Tripp meeting Mickey for the first time.  Love it!!

When we got home we were still in go-go-go mode! We started swim lessons & took Tripp bowling. Here are a couple of shots.

Hopefully it won't be so long between this post and the next.  I have a lot to share...like, oh, my brother got engaged.  Just a little something exciting going on!

Since my last blog post...

No, I have not stopped blogging!  My 5 hour a week job has turned into a 20-30 hour a week job, Tripp has turned into a stubborn mess, and my sister in law is getting married this weekend.  We have been busy!  I'm ready for things to slow down a bit.

This is a random post of random pictures - I looked through my phone and camera, and these are the ones taken since Tripp's birthday post.  Hope you enjoy catching up!

Tripp was sick.  Poor boy.

We spent an entire Saturday on the beach.
I am loving this monogrammed hat Lindsey gave me for Christmas!

This is how Max sleeps and it makes us "smile" every time we see him "smiling"!

My only picture from Easter - a pinterest project.  I really hope you can tell they're "carrots".  One day I'm going to do a post solely on the pinterest projects I've completed.  It seems like people either love pinterest, or hate it.  I don't think you have to be a genius to know which category I fit into! :-)

Beginning of the tree house...

...but all those boxes and instructions made us crazy.
We decided to take a break - Wahoos game it is! So fun!

OK, OK! We'll get back to work.  This is when the tree house was almost complete!  One of Tripp's favorite playmates came over.  Hello, Captain Tripp & Pirate Ms. Julie!

WE. ARE. GOING. TO. DISNEY. WORLD!!!!!!
Geez, I'm excited.  I've been hitting the dollar bins - the plan is to give Tripp a surprise every hour in the car.  Hopefully, this is a good start at keeping him pacified during the drive.

We've added a hammock out by the tree house.  This is probably where you'll find us on any given afternoon.  I love those little crossed feet.

Another of Tripp's favorite playmates - YaYa!

& PopPop!  The tree house has officially been put to the test with PopPop's antics!

Allen bought Tripp a fishing pole.
I could just cover these two with kisses.  Goodness gracious!  I'm a lucky girl.

Tripp found a turtle...

...& I called for back-up.  Mr. Matt to the rescue!

We went to the annual rodeo - look at these sweet babies holding hands!  Presley will be here this weekend for the wedding.  Tripp told me just this morning, "I'm excited about seeing Cousin Pwes-wee."

Thought I'd save the best for last - my 31 year old child did this to my 3 year old child.

And yes, he is wearing underwear in the above picture.  Somewhere along the way, he became potty trained!  No more diapers.  He's kind of fascinated with all things potty & likes to say potty words.  His preschool teacher told him he could only use potty words "in the potty".  Tripp took it literally - one day this week, I found him bent over the toilet, yelling, "Poopoo face!  Peepee head!"  When I asked him what he was doing, he told me he was saying "potty words IN the potty", and that it was OK, because his teacher told him he could.

What's a mom to do? ;-)
