HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRIPP!!!

Tripp turned a year old today, 1:31 AM to be exact. And I thought it ironic when he woke me up crying at 1:15 this morning. So I rocked him, gave him a birthday kiss and he promptly went back to sleep at 1:32... We started the morning off with a room full of balloons, presents, happy birthday banners on the fence from our sweet next door neighbors, and a candle in a cinnamon roll. The big par-tay is this weekend so I'm trying to keep today low-key.
A few pics from this morning...

He wouldn't take his eyes off this balloon!
Julie displaying her sneaky work! She & Matt put this up in the wee hours of the morning - what wonderful neighbors & we're so thankful for them.
The birthday boy...
The chaos...
Notice there are no pictures of Allen or me - we're not so photogenic in our pj's with only one cup of coffee in us.

Valentine's Day

Allen's parents offered to watch Tripp for us while we went out to dinner Saturday night before V-day. I jumped at the chance. However, due to an ongoing ear infection (which we later discovered is sinusitis - still taking medicine & the doctor thinks we need to get rid of Max) all I really wanted to do was rest. So I called sweet Aunt Kim & asked if we could borrow their condo for the night. They obliged & I was sincerely grateful for my 10 1/2 hours of uninterrupted blissful sleep. It was heavenly.

So a big THANK YOU to the Vinson's & Turner's! And of course a few more pics from the weekend...I just can't resist posting pictures of my Tripperoo.

Tripp considering his first sugar cookie (that I know of! I'm sure there are some family members guilty of already giving him one). He love it by the way!

Tripp helped with Valentine's cookies - he was fascinated by the sprinkles.
(I downloaded these pictures in the opposite order of how they're showing up on the page. Any advice from you bloggers on how to move pictures? Thanks!)

Sewing Projects

I attempted my first applique for Tripp's Valentine shirt. And I must say it might quite possibly would have been my last, if were not for Mrs. June. A sweet friend in Greenville is going to give me a lesson this Thursday - I'm planning on doing a "1" on a shirt or a long jon-jon for Tripp's birthday.

Anyway, after sewing the shirt to the shirt, not once, but twice, I thought we were doomed. But I persevered and here is the final result...

I was certain the shirt would fall apart in the washing machine, but much to my surprise it remained intact and may one day be worn by another Vinson baby. Definitely not Valentine's day 2011 or 2012 or 2013 or...

Out of the Loop

We've had some craziness in our house the last few weeks:
  • Tripp & I have both been sick
  • We ripped up old carpet & put in new flooring
  • We've had family in for the past 2 weekends
  • Tripp & I went to Greenville for a few days
  • And most importantly, Tripp's birthday is Wednesday! I know it sounds cliche, but it really is hard to believe he's turning 1.
I haven't been able to use the internet on the computer where our pictures are stored & I haven't been inclined to blog on Allen's mini. It's a little, well, too "mini" for my tastes. But these are a few of the subjects I've been wanting to share:
  • Sewing projects
  • Before & After House Projects
  • House Decorating Advice - HELP!!
  • Tripp's Birthday
  • Intentional Mothering
I don't want set high goals for this internet session, because T-man is destined to wake up any minute. But hopefully I will get to finish the following post...
